Dr. Xiaodong LI

Dr. Li is the General Manager of the firm responsible for the entire firm’s operation. Dr. Li is a senior patent attorney and China Supreme Court appointed attorney for patent litigation with abundance experiences in electrical and electronics field related matters, including prosecution, invalidation, reexamination, appeal, and litigation before the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), the Patent Re-Examination Board (PRB), the People’s Courts, and the China Supreme Court. In addition, Dr. Li is experienced on corporate China IP portfolio management and counseling.

With more a decade of diverse patent practices, Dr. Li’s experiences came from his representation for numerous multinational corporations’ patent matters in China. Particularly, Dr. Li represented seven telecommunication companies in prevailing a landmark patent case before the PRB and the People’s Courts that involved infringement, invalidation, and litigation. This case was selected by SIPO as the 2010 Top 10 Patent Invalidation Cases. In another case, Dr. Li represented a well-known multinational Japanese monitor corporation to defend allegations of patent infringement and maintained the validity of the patent owner’s patents. Not only was this case brought in Beijing, but the plaintiff also sued in many local courts around China, and before the United States International Trade Commission (ITC). Dr. Li and his team was able to found prior arts to invalidate the plaintiff’s patents. Additionally, Dr. Li also used his knowledge in the procedural rules to buy time for the client to reach settlement agreements with the plaintiff, which led to the plaintiff dismiss of all pending litigations in China and before the ITC. Dr. Li also helped a famous multinational company in licensing its patent portfolio to a leading company in China.

In addition to his managerial role in the office and his practice, Dr. Li also travels to various countries to speak and moderate in various patent conference and seminar on topics related to China IP practices.
